CLASS OF 2028 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Beginning this year, all scholarships were awarded to the incoming freshman class with admission decisions on January 26, 2024. Marian will make scholarship awards to on-time admission applicants only. Students applying for admission after December 7, 2023 may not be eligible for scholarships for the upcoming school year. 

ACADEMIC MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships were awarded automatically to admission applicants meeting the criteria below (no scholarship application required) provided admission application was submitted by December 7, 2023 and HSPT was taken in November or December 2023.

NAMED SCHOLARSHIPS
Admission applicants submitted Named Scholarship Applications by December 7, 2023 to request consideration for the named scholarships below. The Scholarship Committee considered applicants based on the information provided in their Named Scholarship Application, admission file and criteria listed below. Applicants may have been required to participate in a scholarship interview. All named scholarships for the Class of 2028 have been awarded at this time.

Christine Else '90 Memorial Art Scholarship
Artistic ability.

Courtney Elizabeth Johns '96 Memorial Scholarship
In 1996, the Johns family established this scholarship in memory of their daughter Courtney, Marian Class of 1996, who died in the crash of TWA Flight 800 in July 1996. This renewable scholarship, awarded annually to an incoming freshman at Marian, is based on academic achievement, sustained leadership, athletic accomplishment, community involvement, and financial need.

Joe and Marilyn Balous Scholarship
Marilyn Balous established this scholarship in 2018 to help provide opportunities for a better education to young women in financial need, which is an important goal of Marilyn and her late husband, Joe. This renewable scholarship, awarded annually to an incoming freshman at Marian, is based on qualifying criteria of maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, demonstrating perseverance and hard work, and financial need.

Written ability and an HSPT national percentile composite, reading and/or language sub-score of 90 or higher.

Kelly Nagle Scholarship
This Scholarship was established in honor of Kelly O’Hara Nagle ‘77 and celebrates her determination, grit and kind spirit. The Kelly Nagle Scholarship provides a four-year renewable scholarship awarded to an incoming Marian High School student for use during her freshman year. The student should be involved in co-curriculars, athletics or community service and demonstrate determination, perseverance and kindness. The scholarship recipient must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Raymond J. Nagle Memorial Scholarship
The Nagle Charitable Trust established this scholarship in 1996 in memory of Raymond J. Nagle. This award provides a renewable scholarship to an incoming freshman, based on academic achievement, co-curricular activities, community involvement/service, awards and honors, and financial need.

To be considered for a named scholarship, please complete the following by December 7, 2023: 
  • Complete the scholarship application.
  • Request a single letter of recommendation (from a teacher, moderator, supervisor or coach) to be emailed to admission@marian-hs.org.
  • Complete a FACTS/Grant and Aid Application (the application will go live here in October. This is required only for consideration for need-based scholarships (as noted above, the Johns, Balous and Nagle scholarships) and/or tuition assistance.
 A student may be awarded a maximum of one, if any, named scholarship. A student may be awarded a named scholarship in addition to an Academic Merit Scholarship. Please contact the Office of Admission with any questions at (248) 502-3033.
