Marian Students Serve 40 Community Organizations in 2012-2013
Marian High School students, through their classes, clubs, athletic teams, and other school organizations donated approximately $41,000 in cash, goods, and services to nearly 40 organizations and funds during the 2012-2013 school year.
Karen DuBay Holt is Marian's Distinguished Alumnae 2013
Karen DuBay Holt was selected as 2013 Distinguished Alumna for her professional accomplishments, her community outreach, and her commitment to Marian High School. As Distinguished Alumna, she addressed the Class of 2013 at their commencement ceremony at St. Hugo of the Hills Church.
Marian Seniors Signed National Letters of Intent
Four additional Marian High School seniors recently signed national letters of intent to play their sports in college. Allie Brodsky signed with Kalamazoo College to play soccer; Claire Husaynu signed with Michigan State University for synchronized skating; Victoria Li signed with Kings College to golf; and Olivia Underwood signed with Wittenburg University to play tennis.
Marian High School Congratulates the Class of 2013
Diplomas were bestowed on 146 seniors at Marian High School’s 51st annual commencement exercises at St. Hugo of the Hills Church, Bloomfield Hills. Valedictorian of the Marian Class of 2013 is Katherine White (daughter of Renee and Jerry White, Bloomfield Hills), and Co-salutatorians are Kristen Hawes (daughter of Kim and Jeff Hawes, Bingham Farms) and Sandra Oska (daughter of Rania and Fadi Oska of Troy).
Marian Alumnae Named University of Notre Dame Valedictorian
Mallory Anne Meter, alumna from the Marian Class of 2009, was named valedictorian of the University of Notre Dame Class of 2013. A psychology major, Mallory will present the valedictory address during the University commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 19 at Notre Dame Stadium.

During Marian High School’s 13th annual Celebration of Thanks, Mary Ellen and Dennis O’Bryan of Bloomfield Hills, MI, were honored for 21 years of service and dedication to the school.
Marian Seniors Sign National Letter of Intent
Four Marian High School seniors recently signed national letters of intent to play their sports in college. Catherine Anger signed with Regis University in Denver, CO to play soccer; Rilka Noel signed with University of Notre Dame to play soccer; Kaitlyn Nummer signed with Miami University of Ohio to play soccer; and Madison Taylor signed with Denison University in Grandville, OH for swimming.
Marian Announces National Merit and Achievement Finalists
Two Marian High School seniors have achieved National Merit Finalist standing in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. They are Kristen Hawes and Katherine Cox. In addition, Senior Jasmine Johnson was named a 2013 National Achievement Scholarship finalist.
Marian High School Makes Valentines for Veterans
Freshmen and juniors joined together for their 20th annual Valentines for Veterans project in late January. Each student made a beautifully decorated valentine.
Marian High School Unveils New Library Media Center
Marian High School recently opened its remodeled Library Media Center. Updates include new carpeting, paint, furniture and shelving, and additional technology aligned to 21st century teaching and learning standards.

Marian Seniors Recognized by Bloomfield Hills Optimists
Seniors Caroline Reason, daughter of Kathryn and Robert Reason of Bloomfield Hills; Tatum Schwartz, daughter of Chris and Walter Schwartz of Bloomfield Hills; and Brooke Sheena, daughter of Fadia and Joseph Sheena of West Bloomfield were honored at the Optimists’ Youth Appreciation Breakfast.
Marian Hosts Fall Open House
Girls in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades and their families are invited to Marian High School’s fall Open House on Sunday, November 4 from 1-4 PM. Guests have the opportunity to tour the school with a student guide, hear about academic, co-curricular, and athletic opportunities, and meet Marian faculty and parents.
Marian Senior Morgan Kavanaugh Achieves Top Score on ACT
Marian Senior Morgan Kavanaugh has earned the highest possible composite score of 36 on the ACT college admission and placement exam. Nationally, while the actual number of students earning a composite score of 36 varies from year to year, less than one-tenth of one percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score.

Marian Student Hones Leadership Skills at Hillsdale College
Marian Senior, Victoria Fassett participated in the Economics for Leaders program at Hillsdale College July 15-22. She was one of only 32 students from around the country who was accepted onto the Foundation for Teaching Economics' Hillsdale Economics for Leaders program.
2012-2013 Marian Scholarship Recipients
Marian High School is pleased to announce the recipients of nearly $40,000 in scholarships for the 2012-2013 school year. Each scholarship has various criteria that each recipient is required to meet. Scholarships are based on review of nominations and/or applications, responses to essay questions, and, in some cases, personal interviews.
