Marian High School Honors Mary Sue and John Everly
-
Bloomfield Hills – During Marian High School’s 10th Annual Celebration of Thanks, Mary Sue and John Everly of Beverly Hills, MI were honored for 30 years of service and dedication to the school.
The Celebration of Thanks is an annual reception that honors individuals who have given tremendous amounts of time, talent, and treasure to Marian High School during the year. The Board of Directors and Sr. Lenore Pochelski, IHM, President of Marian, acknowledged over 125 members of the Marian community for their contributions to the school at this gathering.
Mary Sue and John Everly have been married 44 years and are the parents of two Marian daughters – Michelle Everly Frederick ’85 and Holly Everly Mustion ’87 and two sons, Scott Everly and Jon Everly. They have 13 grandchildren, including two who currently attend Marian – Junior Holly Frederick and Freshman Annelise Frederick.
When the Everlys’ oldest daughter entered Marian, both became involved in the school’s Mothers’ and Dads’ Clubs. Mary Sue served as chair of the Calico Country Store fundraiser, and John was president of the Dads’ Club in 1986-87. Over their years as Marian parents, the Everlys wholeheartedly supported the students, faculty, athletic programs, and school fundraisers. “Mary Sue and John were always positive about the school,” Sr. Lenore said, “talking it up to their friends and encouraging area newcomers to attend events, get involved in the school, send their daughters here, support the school financially.”
After their daughters graduated Marian, the Everlys continued to support the school through their generosity to the school’s two capital campaigns and yearly gifts to the Annual Fund. They also continue to give their time and talent to Marian by participating on committees. John served as a member of the Marian Board of Directors and he is currently on the Nominating Committee. Mary Sue is on the President’s Council, and both have participated in Planned Giving focus group.
Over the years, Mary Sue and John have been most generous to Marian – sharing their time, talent, and treasure with the school. They continue to care about Marian because they say it is a way to “give back” – to say thank you to the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (SSIHMs) and the Marian teachers for their daughters’ and, now, their granddaughters’ education.
Sister Lenore said, “We who call ourselves Marian are ever so grateful for the gift of Mary Sue and John Everly in our lives!”
Marian is a Catholic college preparatory school for young women sponsored by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The mission of Marian High School is to ensure an excellent education within a Christian environment, which will enable young women to value human diversity and live responsible lives of leadership and action based on gospel values.
