Marian High School Congratulates the Class of 2010!

Bloomfield Hills – Congratulations to the newest members of the Marian High School alumnae family! 140 seniors received their high school diplomas while participating in Marian’s 47th annual commencement exercises at St. Hugo of the Hills Church. Valedictorians of this class are Mary Clare Houlihan (Clarkston) and Caitlin Ploch (Redford).
Family and friends recognized the accomplishments of the Class of 2010, which include
• 1 National Merit Finalist
• 1 National Achievement Scholarship Finalist
• 3 National Merit Commended Students
• 41 Phi Beta Kappa honorees
• 63 Presidential Educational Excellence awardees
Additionally, these five seniors received further recognition of their achievements:
Janna Kramer: Theresa Maxis Duchemin Award for superior service to the underprivileged, awarded by the SSIHM Congregation which sponsors Marian.
Colleen Ross: Mothers’ Club Service Award for service to her class and to Marian over the past four years.
Rachel Melcher: George DuFour Athletic Scholarship for high scholastic achievement, involvement in more than one sport, and the true spirit of sportsmanship.
Mary Pickens: Herman Spirit Award from her classmates for her enthusiasm, positive attitude, and pride in her class and school.
Elizabeth Argue: Woodburn Distinguished Senior Award from her classmates in recognition of her quality of character, integrity, sense of purpose, and faith.
The graduation theme was based on a quotation from Maya Angelou: “It is this belief in a power larger than myself and other than myself, which allows me to venture into the unknown and even unknowable.”
Marian is a Catholic college preparatory school for young women sponsored by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The mission of Marian High School is to ensure an excellent education within a Christian environment, which will enable young women to value human diversity and live responsible lives of leadership and action based on gospel values.
