The faculty and staff of Marian High School gathered today for a spiritually enriching and empowering retreat as they embarked on a new academic year. The day began with a meaningful Mass, setting the tone for a day of reflection, collaboration, and rejuvenation.
Led by the dynamic and insightful Kim Kerwin, the retreat delved into the theme "Sufficient Grace and Power Perfected in Weakness: Celebrating the Ministry of Education." Drawing inspiration from the letters of Paul, particularly 2 Corinthians 13:6-8, the participants explored the idea of finding strength in vulnerability and weakness, leaning into how God's grace guides and equips.
Throughout the morning, the faculty and staff engaged in thought-provoking discussions on topics ranging from the integration of mind, body, and spirit in education to the practical application of the school's mission and belief statements. The importance of cultivating a learning environment that nurtures both intellectual and spiritual growth was emphasized, as well as the significance of embracing empathy and compassion in all interactions.
"We are in the business of changing lives," said President Heather Greig Sofran '96. This sentiment echoed the prevailing theme of the day – that education is a transformative endeavor driven by grace, understanding, and the commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of students.
As the retreat concluded, the faculty and staff left with a renewed sense of purpose, united in their dedication to fostering an inclusive and nurturing educational environment. The day's discussions and reflections will undoubtedly guide their actions throughout the upcoming academic year, as they continue to integrate the teachings of Jesus and discipleship into their daily work.
Marian High School remains committed to its mission of holistic education, promoting the integration of mind, body, and spirit. With a shared vision and a renewed spirit, the faculty and staff are ready to embark on a year filled with growth, grace, and countless opportunities to impact the lives of their students.
