Marian Life Club traveled by bus to Washington D.C. for the annual March for Life held January 24, 2025. This group of 17 Marian students, teachers Mrs. Mary Murray and Mrs. Kelly King, and a parent chaperone, joined thousands of others from all over the country in this peaceful demonstration affirming the dignity of all human life from conception to natural death.
Marchers started the day on Friday by attending the Mass for Life at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, where the priest reminded all that one's worth and dignity as human beings comes from being created by God in His own image and likeness. The priest also encouraged those in attendance to remember that to be pro-life means advocating and caring for the most vulnerable in our society including, the unborn, the marginalized, the poor, the imprisoned, the elderly and those with disabilities.
After Mass, pilgrims heard speeches from various Pro-Life defenders. The recurring theme was one of hope and perseverance in the fight to use one's voice for those persons who have no voice.
The March route spanned from the Washington Monument to the Supreme Court. The crowd of marchers was comprised of mostly young people, including high school students, college pro life groups, priests, seminarians, religious sisters, and many young families pushing strollers. Banners were carried sharing messages that stressed the importance of loving both the mom and the baby, that all human life is sacred, and that God has a purpose and plan for every human life.
The Marian group ended the day with some sightseeing which included the Lincoln, Jefferson, and Martin Luther King Memorials and the Old Post Office Clock Tower.
This trip was a profoundly moving and encouraging experience for the Marian Life Club. Marian is proud of its students for standing up for Life and witnessing to our Catholic belief that all life is sacred and God is the Author of all human life.
