Marian High School Breaks Ground on $7 Million Campus Transformation, Advancing STEAM Education

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI – Marian High School is set to break ground this April on a bold $7 million transformation, ushering in a new era of innovation and excellence. The first phase of the Marian for the Generations Capital Campaign will modernize science and visual arts facilities, reinforcing the school’s commitment to preparing students for the future.

The Generations Campaign is a visionary project that reimagines Marian’s campus with cutting-edge STEM and visual arts spaces, essential infrastructure improvements, and state-of-the-art learning environments. The campaign also focuses on growing Marian’s endowment, ensuring long-term sustainability and enhancing resources for financial aid, faculty support, and co-curricular programming.

Transforming Learning Spaces

Phase 1 of the project will focus on the renovation of Marian’s science and visual arts facilities, designed to enhance hands-on learning and creativity. This phase will include:

  • A full-scale renovation of five science classrooms featuring state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, advanced technology, collaborative learning spaces, and upgraded infrastructure, along with a newly modernized computer laboratory.

  • The centralization of Marian’s pottery, design, and arts classrooms, creating a dedicated hub for visual and digital arts.

  • Refreshed hallways with an updated aesthetic to create a more open, modern, and inviting space designed to inspire learning.

The project is designed by O/X Studio, with Gleeson Construction as the General Contractor—both companies having strong Marian alumnae ties. Additionally, Farnell Equipment Company, led by Marian alumnae, will outfit the STEM laboratories. Finally, Michigan Air Products, which also has alumnae connections, will lead the installation of HVAC systems to ensure top-tier climate control for the upgraded spaces.

Following Phase 1, the campaign’s Phase 2 will focus on installing new windows and air conditioning throughout the school, further enhancing the learning environment. This phase is expected to take place during the summer of 2026.

A Vision for the Future

The Marian for the Generations campaign is more than just a building project—it is a commitment to excellence, innovation, and the enduring values of a Marian education. By integrating science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM), these improvements will create a well-rounded academic experience that prepares young women for the evolving demands of the future. Additionally, growing the endowment will provide Marian with the financial stability to offer ongoing support for tuition assistance, faculty development, and program enhancements, ensuring that Marian remains accessible and affordable for all students.

“Breaking ground on this campaign signifies a new chapter for Marian,” said Marian President Heather Greig Sofran. “We are deeply grateful to our donors, alumnae, and the entire Marian community for their unwavering support as we embark on this exciting journey. With these renovations and the growth of our endowment, we are ensuring that our students have access to cutting-edge resources and opportunities that will empower them to lead, create, and innovate.”

The campaign continues to welcome support from donors who wish to contribute to Marian’s legacy of excellence. To learn more about how you can make an impact, visit www.marian-hs.org/generations. To make a gift, click here
