We would like to recognize Marian Teacher, Mr. Patrick Turner for receiving the Archdiocese of Detroit's Excellence in Teaching Award for the 2023-2024 school year! He passionately serves his students and the Marian community, inspiring both teachers and students alike. Patrick Turner, a social studies teacher and coach at Marian, earned his History degree from Michigan State University in 2010. He instructs a range of social studies classes, including AP European History, World History, Economics, and Government. Joining Marian in the Fall of 2013, Mr. Turner previously taught at Mohave Valley Junior High School, where he taught 8th Grade Civics and led the TAG (Talented and Gifted) Program. Beyond the classroom, as moderator for Model United Nations, freshman basketball coach, and junior class moderator, he dedicates himself to shaping students' lives and fostering educational growth. Mr. Turner's positivity and dedication make him a cherished asset and an inspiration to all at Marian.
As a committed leader to his students, Turner characterizes a Marian Mustang as follows: "A Renaissance Woman who excels in academics, athletics, and empathy. She tackles complex math problems, crafts thoughtful tributes for her pet fish, scores goals in field hockey, and offers wise counsel to friends in need. She values academic achievement but finds her true pride in making a positive impact on others."
This award is a testament to the commitment our teachers have for the students, and we are deeply grateful to Mr. Turner for embodying this dedication at Marian High School.
