German Students Celebrate Food and Culture

German Students Celebrate Food and Culture

Students in Frau Shopinski’s German IV class recently gathered for a special goodbye celebration honoring the class’s graduating seniors. Students enjoyed homemade Döner, a popular Turkish street food similar to a Greek gyro that is commonly found in Germany, along with Peach Kuchen and Spezi, a German drink made by mixing cola and orange soda. Seniors also received a special gift featuring a class photo to commemorate their time together in German class.

In another celebration of German food and culture, members of the German Honor Society made Eiskaffee together. Similar to an affogato, the German coffee dessert combines vanilla ice cream, strong coffee, and whipped cream. The treat was a hit among students and offered another fun way to experience German culture firsthand!
