Marian Forensics Team Continues Strong Season with Top Finishes

The Marian Forensics Team continues to build momentum this season, earning top placements at two recent Detroit Catholic Forensic League tournaments.

At the team’s fourth regular season tournament, held at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School on February 28, Marian competitors earned top-six ribbons in 11 events, showcasing the depth of talent across multiple categories.

Students earning honors included:

Declamation
• Kaitlyn Merritt: 1st place
• Maggie Buckles: 2nd place
• Malin Murphey: 3rd place

Extemporaneous Speaking
• Julia Rogers: 3rd place
• Molly Rudnick: 4th place

Dramatic Performance
• Gracelyn Riga: 2nd place
• Piper Truza: 3rd place
• Nicole Haibsh: 6th place

Oral Interpretation
• Gina Azar: 1st place

Duo Interpretation
• Mary Frangie & Melanie Frangie: 2nd place
• Angelina Asmar & Jenell Gallozi: 3rd place

The team carried that success into its fifth and final regular season tournament, held at St. Mary’s Preparatory on Saturday, March 7. All seven Marian entries earned either first- or second-place ribbons.

• Chloe Konja: 2nd place

Extemporaneous Speaking
• Julia Rogers: 1st place
• Madelyn Hasani: 2nd place

Dramatic Performance
• Giselle Sesi: 1st place
• Piper Truza: 2nd place (tie)

Duo Interpretation
• Isabella Mansour & Alexandra Zimmermann: 2nd place

The Forensics Team next travels to Mercy High School on March 21 for the Detroit Catholic Forensic League National Qualifier Tournament.
