Marian Seniors Honored During Baccalaureate Mass and Awards Presentation
On Monday, Marian seniors and their parents gathered for a beautiful Baccalaureate Mass celebrated by Monsignor John Zenz as the Class of 2026 prepared for graduation and the next chapter ahead.
The evening offered a meaningful opportunity for prayer, reflection, and gratitude alongside the families, faculty, and friends who have supported these students throughout their Marian journey.
At the conclusion of Mass, senior parent speakers John Bingham and Stephanie Bickel, parents of Madeline Bingham ’26, delivered a special blessing for parents, recognizing the love, guidance, and sacrifices that have shaped the Class of 2026 along the way.
The evening also included the presentation of special senior awards honoring members of the graduating class for their accomplishments, leadership, and contributions to the Marian community.

Though his five years at Marian represent only a small chapter in a remarkable 48-year career, they are years he remembers fondly because of the students and colleagues who made Marian feel like home.

Whether teaching Intro to Filmmaking, Graphic Design, or Art Exploration, Dan Mahoney has spent the past eight years at Marian helping students explore creativity in its many forms.

For 34 years, Sheila Geary has been a cherished presence in Marian's hallways and classrooms, teaching theology, making students laugh, and encouraging young women to see the world through a wider lens.

Twelve members of Marian's Forensics Team traveled to Washington, D.C. over Memorial Day weekend to compete at the 2026 National Catholic Forensic League (NCFL) Grand National Tournament, one of the nation's largest and most competitive speech and performance events.

For many years, Marian students, alumnae, parents, and faculty have partnered with International Samaritan through service immersion trips to Honduras, Guatemala, and Nicaragua. This week, many of those participants gathered to reflect on their experiences, celebrate an important milestone, and rally support for the organization's next major project.

Math teacher Mrs. Sarah Walley has been recognized at Marian's Archdiocese of Detroit Teacher of Excellence recipient. Each year, the Archdiocese honors one educator from each school for excellence in teaching, dedication to the Catholic faith, and love for students. Mrs. Walley was selected in recognition of the meaningful impact she has already made during her first year at Marian.
