Camryn Luxon and Gemma Tiseo Advance to State Finals in National History Day Competition

Camryn Luxon and Gemma Tiseo Advance to State Finals in National History Day Competition

Marian sophomores Camryn Luxon and Gemma Tiseo are headed to the state level of the prestigious National History Day® competition after earning top marks at the district contest on March 14. The pair qualified for the state competition with their original documentary on Henry Ford and the Motor Revolution created as part of their Honors U.S. History class.

Each year, National History Day challenges students across the country to conduct in-depth historical research and present their findings through original projects. Students may compete in categories such as documentaries, exhibits, performances, websites, and research papers, progressing from local to state and ultimately national competition levels.

"The National History Day competition encourages students to think critically about the past by analyzing primary sources and reaching independent conclusions about the past," notes their teacher Kristen Roland. "This year's theme was Revolution, Reaction, and Reform in History. At the district competition, Camryn and Gemma presented their documentary and answered a bevy of questions from judges, qualifying to compete at the next level."

The pair will compete at the state contest on April 25 at Saginaw Valley State University.

We are proud of Camryn and Gemma for their outstanding achievement and wish them the best as they advance to the state competition!
