Mech Warriors Earn FIRST Impact Award, Advance to State Championship

The Marian-Brother Rice Mech Warriors robotics team is heading to the state championship after an exciting showing at its second competition of the season.

Competing at Troy Athens this past weekend, the team battled through a challenging start and finished qualification rounds in 22nd place. The team's perseverance paid off as it was selected as the ninth overall alliance pick heading into the elimination rounds.

The highlight of the event came when the Mech Warriors earned the FIRST Impact Award, the competition’s most prestigious honor. This award recognizes a team’s exceptional efforts in outreach, leadership, and advancing STEM within its community.

With this achievement, the team has officially qualified for the state championship, set to take place in just three weeks.

Congratulations to the Mech Warriors on this incredible accomplishment. You continue to make Marian proud! 💙💛
