Visual
The Art Department fosters an appreciation and an awareness of the beauty that surrounds us in the world.
We inspire you to become aware of your hidden potential and gifts, challenge your creativity, and assist you in conveying your feelings and thoughts through the visual media.
May your art help to affirm that true beauty which, as a glimmer of the Spirit of God, will transfigure matter, opening the human soul to the sense of the eternal.
St. Pope John Paul II, Letter to Artists
Visual Arts Curriculum
Students are guided through the artistic process of inspiration, design/development, creation, and reflection in a choice based curriculum. The curriculum allows students to take ownership in the artmaking process by choosing how they make art. This approach engages students daily in the global profession skills of critical thinking, communication, creativity, and collaboration, preparing students for a future in the workforce.
National Art Honor Society
The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) was established by the National Art Education Association (NAEA) in 1978. Marian began its sponsorship of our NAHS chapter to inspire and recognize students who have shown an outstanding ability and interest in art. The program supports members in their efforts to attain the highest standards in art scholarship, character, and service, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community.
