Marian Mustangs

Educating the whole person is what sets Marian apart from other high schools. As an extension of its academic excellence, Marian's competitive athletic program strives to contribute to the development of strong, mature, competent, and caring women through participation in organized sports. Athletics provide opportunities for the development of discipline, self-control, confidence, perseverance, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Marian athletics achieves this by fielding varsity teams in 18 interscholastic sports. All the teams strive for excellence. Many sports field junior varsity, junior varsity B, and freshman squads to allow for proper player development and provide additional participation opportunities.  Some sports have limited team sizes while others are “no-cut” sports with no limits on participants. Each continues the tradition of strong women of mind and heart.

Supplementing the interscholastic program is an intramural program in several sports. This allows any student the opportunity to participate in a co-curricular activity.

Marian athletes are well-represented in the Hall of Fame for both the Catholic High School League http://www.chsl.com/ and the Michigan High School Athletic Association http://www.mhsaa.com/

Additionally, Marian sports, its coaches, and its athletes have been recognized on the national level through awards and the press.  Marian athletes are sought after by major universities across the country for their academic excellence, athletic performance, and strength of character, making Marian a top choice for prospective students seeking the best college preparatory experience and the Marian sisterhood.
