Marian Acts of Christian Service

Marian Acts in Christian Service (MACS) program aims to involve students in service projects throughout the year.  The MACS experience seeks to provide young women with the opportunity to actively live out their faith and beliefs through service to those in need.  The spiritual and corporal works of mercy must be used as a guide for selecting a service project.

Marian students have developed a reputation as dedicated and caring volunteers at a variety of community organizations. In many cases, students continue to be active volunteers long after the required MACS service hours are completed.

Despite the challenges faced as a result of the recent pandemic that limited service opportunities, the Class of 2022, still managed to commit nearly 6,000 service hours to serve their communities in creative ways.

Community Outreach

Throughout the year, Marian’s classes, clubs, athletic teams, and other school organizations sponsor many outreach projects. During the 2021-2022 school year, students raised and donated over $25,000 in cash and thousands of hours of service time to 34 organizations.

Angels’ Place, John Dingell VA Medical Center, Kids Coalition Against Hunger, Ladies of Charity, I Support Girls, Oxford Strong community, Ukraine Drive for Refugees, and dozens of other non-profit organizations were served by our young women.

Each year students raise funds by obtaining pledges and walking a 5K route through nearby neighborhoods in Marian’s annual Walkathon. The two organizations to benefit from the 2022 Walkathon were Common Ground in Pontiac and Angels' Place in Southfield.

In addition, countless hours, dollars, and donations were made to Marian’s Benefit Evening, Spring Raffle, Open House, Field Day, as well as to school plays, concerts, athletics, retreats, and club projects.

Student clubs and organizations also make donations to Marian’s tuition assistance and endowment funds through fundraising efforts they have throughout the school year.
