Marian Provides STEM Opportunities

Marian High School, a girls’ Catholic high school in Bloomfield Hills, has built an impressive variety of courses, clubs, and activities built around STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, jobs in STEM fields have jumped by more than 17 percent in the last decade. Knowing their graduates will be among the leaders and highest achievers in the future, Marian has designed programs to increase students’ interest, confidence, and awareness of educational and career opportunities in STEM.

Innovative opportunities for students, such as STEM Week, STEM Career Night, and Lunch with STEM Professionals complement Marian’s tradition of values and excellence.  Wide offerings of STEM clubs and activities including a Forensic Science Team, Friends of the Earth Club, Marian Medical Club, Robotics Team, and STEM Club are also provided at Marian.

STEM Week 2017 will take place during the first week in December, with Career Night scheduled on Tuesday, Dec, 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Alumnae, parents, and friends of Marian who are professionals in STEM fields are invited to participate, by discussing their education and careers with students and prospective students currently enrolled in grades 6-8 at any school.

Prospective students can learn more about Marian’s STEM programming and admission activities by contacting Tina Malloy Pedersen (Class of ’96) at (248) 644-1946 or tpedersen@marian-hs.org.
