Diplomas were bestowed on 112 seniors at Marian High School’s 58th annual commencement exercises at Meadow Brook Amphitheatre in Rochester. Valedictorians of the Marian Class of 2021 were Clare Adams and Regan O’Brien.
Family and friends recognized the accomplishments of the Class of 2021, which included:
• 2 National Merit Commended Scholars
• 89 Presidential Educational Excellence awardees
• $16,929,154 in college scholarship money earned (as of May 3, 2021).
Emily Grombala was voted by her classmates as the recipient of the Woodburn Distinguished Senior Award in recognition of her “quality of character that manifests integrity, purpose, principle, and faith.”
Additionally, these seniors received further recognition of their achievements:
Tayla Jankowski: Theresa Maxis Duchemin, IHM Award for superior service to the underprivileged, awarded by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which sponsors Marian.
Ava Cortiana: Mothers’ Club Excellence Award for service to her class and to Marian over the past four years.
Ainslie Vanneste: George DuFour Scholar Athlete Award for high scholastic achievement, involvement in more than one sport, and the true spirit of sportsmanship.
Jenna McKay: Herman Spirit Award from her classmates for her enthusiasm, positive attitude, and pride in her class and school.
Maria Askounis: David A. Feldman “Be Awesome” Award for a senior athlete who exemplifies energy and enthusiasm, motivating and supporting her team to be and do the best they could, awarded by the Marian Athletic Club.
Katelyn Gilbert: Marian Acts of Christian Service Medal for the highest number of service hours.
Elizabeth Carter: Marian Senior Class Citizenship Award given for a senior’s exemplary manner of living each day with respect to others, herself and her community.
