Marian High School's faculty and staff recently engaged in a pivotal training session led by the Bloomfield Township Fire and Police departments. This comprehensive program certified all personnel in crucial life-saving techniques, including Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) usage, and the imperative "Stop the Bleed" program.
In a proactive effort to enhance the school's safety measures, Medical Crisis Coordinator Mrs. Mary Spiro Tiseo '96, RN invited the Bloomfield Township Fire and Police departments to campus. Their expertise equipped school personnel with essential skills to respond effectively in emergency situations, particularly focusing on the globally recognized "Stop the Bleed" program developed by the American College of Surgeons. With this training, Marian staff members are now well-prepared to handle severe bleeding incidents.
The day commenced with a practical training session on Canva for Education, a versatile graphic design platform. This resource is now readily available to faculty, staff, and students, empowering them to create visually engaging content in the classroom.
Returning by popular demand, Jeannine Gant from Emerging World added to the day's enrichment. Having previously presented in 2022 for faculty, staff, and student sessions, Jeannine's two-hour workshop delved into key topics such as cultural competence, belonging, inclusive practices, and community building.
Marian High School's commitment to a safe and united school culture resonated throughout the professional development day. Prioritizing safety and school culture training ensures that the staff is well-equipped to uphold the well-being of the entire school community. This proactive approach not only enhances emergency response capabilities but also reflects Marian's unwavering dedication to fostering a culture where safety and unity are paramount.
