  • Marian Students Return to Campus for 2020-21 School Year

    Marian announced the plan for students' returning to campus during Phase 4 of Michigan's Safe Start Plan. This plan was developed in partnership with the Marian Community, the Archdiocese of Detroit (AOD), Brother Rice High School, St. Regis School, the MHSAA, and the State of Michigan with the goal of establishing a safe balance between the need for face-to-face interaction and the health of our stakeholders.

    Memorial and Reflection for Violence Against Black Lives

    On June 25 at 7 PM, Marian hosted an outdoor Memorial and Reflection for Violence Against Black Lives, honoring the memory of George Floyd and all Black victims of violence and injustice. While adhering to Governor Whitmer's guidelines for safety, students, former students, alums, faculty, staff, administration, and parents gathered on the Marian front lawn for a time of prayer and reflection. This event grew out of a need for an active response from the Marian community to stand against racial injustice in our school and in our society, share personal stories and experiences, as well as enjoy music and poetry that energized a spirit of empowerment.

    Five faculty members and four Marian parents accompanied 49 students on this year’s three mission trips. Five faculty members and four Marian parents accompanied 49 students on this year’s three mission trips. Under the direction of Ms. Sheila Geary, theology teacher, and sponsored by International Samaritan, the student missionaries traveled to Guatemala City and Escuintla in Guatemala to serve children and families living in garbage dump communities. All of the groups worked at the schools in their communities.

    Marian Benefit Evening Roaring into 2020

    Marian alumnae Jennifer Ureel Waechter and Patti Malleis Brozek chaired the team of dedicated volunteers who worked on Marian Benefit Evening, Roaring into 2020, which was celebrated on February 8 at the Birmingham Athletic Club (BAC). Black and gold feathers and chains adorned the club as guests, many in a celebratory 1920s outfit, came to enjoy an evening with friends and help raise money for Marian High School.
