When was the last time you came to watch Marian athletes play in a volleyball or soccer game? Have you attended a recent Open House? Have you enjoyed a performance by the Marian Rice Players lately? We would like to see you at such events during the school year because your presence and your time are the most precious gifts you can give our students. And you are some of the best ambassadors for our school.

  • Participate in STEM Activities

The goal of Marian High School’s STEM initiative is to give its students opportunities to participate in programs designed to increase their interest, confidence, and awareness of educational and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Marian’s STEM initiative for the 2020-2021 school year includes  STEM Club activities.

Alumnae and parents are also invited to make short informal presentations on STEM topics to students during Lunch with a STEM Professional. This is an opportunity for students to talk one-on-one with a professional during lunch at school.

Through the STEM Club, Marian plans to increase the number of guest speakers and field trips for students throughout the year.

The STEM Career event was held during the day in a virtual format. Presenters were set up in Zoom breakout rooms after school on a Monday and Friday afternoon. Marian teachers from the STEM curriculum hosted nine alumnae as they shared their stories about their educational and career choices. Each presenter offered two 30-minute presentations with time for questions from the students. Students chose their presentations based on their career interest. Alumnae STEM presenters can be viewed here.

Alumnae, parents, and friends who are interested in participating in Marian STEM activities should contact Stephanie McRoberts, math teacher and STEM coordinator, at
    mcrobertsS@marian-hs.org.
  • Participate with Student Groups

Many student groups are looking for speakers in different fields to share their knowledge. For example if you are a small business owner you might want to work with the students in the BEAMR Club. Please contact Pat O'Leary Knipper, pknipper@marina-hs.org,  to see where your talents could be shared here at Marian!
