Marian Honors Keith and Mary Beth Rich MacGuidwin

During Marian High School’s 16th annual Celebration of Thanks, Keith and Mary Beth Rich MacGuidwin of Bloomfield Village were recognized for their many years of service and dedication to the school.

The Celebration of Thanks is an annual reception that honors individuals who have given tremendous amounts of time, talent, and treasure to Marian during the past year.  The Board of Directors and Sr. Lenore Pochelski, IHM, Marian President, acknowledged over 80 members of the Marian community for their contributions to the school at this gathering.

Keith and Mary Beth Rich MacGuidwin are parents of twin Marian alumnae daughters, Sarah and Meaghan, both members of the Class of 2003.  Meaghan will marry Mike Gallagher in a June Chicago wedding, and Sarah and her husband Jordan Dasher are expecting the MacGuidwin’s first grandchild in July.

Since Mary Beth is a 1976 Marian alumna, her involvement with the school goes back to when she herself was a student.  However, it was when Sarah and Meaghan were Marian students that Mary Beth and Keith became involved as volunteers.  Mary Beth took part in several Mothers’ Club events and activities, co-chairing Calico in 2002.  Keith, who was involved in the Marian Athletic Club, chaired an early MAC golf outing.

After their daughters graduated, Mary Beth came back to Marian to participate in the CASE statement process.  This self-study, which involved 150 alumnae, parents, and friends, led to Marian’s first large-scale campaign, Tradition and Vision, which built the collegiate-sized gym, renovated the old gym into an auditorium, and provided for technology improvements.

“Over the years, the MacGuidwins has given generously to the Marian Fund, Tradition and Vision, the Endowment Fund, and Tuition Angels,” Sr. Lenore told the crowd.  Mary Beth and Keith also hosted Marian events, including a Calico thank you party and the first-ever alumnae gift gathering party for Marian Benefit Evening.  They have also been generous sponsors and faithful attendees of Marian fundraisers.

“Mary Beth and Keith have been most generous in sharing their time, talent, and treasure with our school,” Sr. Lenore said.  “They continue to care about Marian because they say it is a way to ‘give back’ – to say thank you for Marian Beth’s education and their daughters’ education – and to continue Catholic education for young women into the future.”
