Marian’s Class of 2018 was welcomed into the school’s Alumnae Association at the 7th annual Alumnae Senior Luncheon. Alumnae sponsor one or more seniors at the luncheon, held annually at the Village Club, a women’s club in Bloomfield Hills.
The 105 graduates were celebrated for their accomplishments during their four years at Marian:
Three National Merit scholars
54 Phi Beta Kappa honors to graduates with a 3.75 cumulative grade point average or higher
79 Presidential Excellence awards to those with a 3.5 cumulative GPA who also have high ACT or SAT test scores
Nearly $14 million in scholarships to colleges and universities of distinction, including Notre Dame, Fordham, Villanova, Kalamazoo College, and University of Michigan
8,000 hours in community service
Six mission trips to Guatemala and Nicaragua in their junior and senior years, working with families living in garbage dump communities
Numerous athletic titles, including Catholic League, district, regional, and four state championships
12 athletes who will play their sports in college
In addition, the Class of 2018 was celebrated for participation in Marian Rice Players, singing and dancing in performances such as Beauty and the Beast, Guys and Dolls, and Disney’s Little Mermaid. Those seniors in the Marian Melodies, a performance vocal group, earned excellent (1) ratings in four competitions this year. Seniors also participated in BEAM&R, a student entrepreneurial group, and Mech Warriors, a robotic team that participated in the World Robotics Championships.
