Marian Celebrates Class of 2020

Marian held its first ever Senior Curbside Farewell Lunch on Monday, May 12. The event was a very special send off to the Class of 2020 that adhered to the social distancing requirements from the Governor’s office.
Tears and unseen smiles were the order of the day as seniors drove their way around the parking lot. They passed several stations while faculty, staff, and parent volunteers placed items in their open trunks, while cheering them along the way with signs, waves and also a few tears. At the end of the procession, Chef Jimmy Stepp of TruFood (Marian’s food service provider) prepared the seniors’ favorite lunch, Asian Bar, in a to-go bag and Sr. Lenore Pochelski, IHM, Head of School, gave each senior a yellow rose and wished them well.

Due to the pandemic, Marian’s building was closed abruptly and seniors needed to pick up many items that were left behind, such as the contents of their lockers, completed art projects and other work that they produced throughout the year. In addition, each student was able to pick up her Class of 2020 lawn sign and her cap and gown for graduation. Marian’s Administrative team, faculty and staff wanted to make sure that the Class of 2020 had a special farewell to celebrate the end of their high school years. Marian parents had individual lawn signs printed that featured each senior’s name and picture, which lined the sidewalk in the front of the school.
