Three Marian Seniors Sign National Letters of Intent
Fall 2019 - Three Marian High School seniors signed national letters of intent to play their sports in college next year. Christine Audette will play volleyball for Tufts University; Kate Biglin will play field hockey for Central Michigan University; and Lauren Sielichi will swim for Boston College.
Christine, the daughter of Leisa and Mark Audette of Bloomfield Hills, will join the Tufts University volleyball team to play defensive specialist and outside hitter. She also plans to study Child Development and Cognitive Studies. Her volleyball accomplishments include CHSL All-Catholic League 2017, 2018, and 2019;
MHSAA All-Region 2017 and 2018; MHSAA Second Team All-State 2018; and CHSL All-Academic 2019
Christine is prepared for the challenges ahead at Tufts. “I had the opportunity to not only belong to a successful volleyball program, but also to a support system with never-ending love and encouragement. Being a part of the Marian community, I have always been motivated to work my hardest and never give up keeping in mind that my Marian family was with me through every obstacle and every achievement. This sense of community allowed me to be successful in my endeavors and have no fear of challenges I may face, as I was never facing them alone,” she said.
Kate, daughter of Kristen and Peter Biglin of Bloomfield Hills, is looking ahead to playing field hockey as a forward and studying pre-med at Central Michigan University next fall. She was named DI First Team All-State 2018 and 2019, DI First Team All-State and All-Academic 2019, Dream Team 2019, DI First Team All-Catholic 2018 and 2019. She was Captain for 2018 and 2019 and leading goal scorer for three years, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Kate’s other sports involvements include Marian’s varsity soccer team and she also participated in travel soccer and field hockey leagues over her high school years.
Lauren, daughter of Christine and Greg Sielichi of Clarkston, will be joining Boston College’s swim team to compete in backstroke and butterfly next fall. She also plans to study nursing. Lauren started swimming on the Marian varsity team in her freshman year and while on the team earned All-League, All-State, and team captain honors.
Lauren’s other activities include membership in the Marian Medical Club, the L.I.F.E Club (Life Is For Everyone), and the Ambassador Club. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Art Honor Society, Marian’s Pastoral team and she attended the school’s mission trip to Guatemala last spring.
Lauren values her time at Marian. “Marian constantly encouraged and pushed me to be my best in and out of the pool,” she commented.
Advanced Placement Government Seniors and We the People State Showcase students Lena McKenney, Hannah Kaczmarek, Katie Freese, and Jen Suan traveled to the State Capitol on March 14th to represent Marian in celebrating Michigan’s official inaugural “Civic Learning Week 2024.”
