Congratulations to Seniors Lily Gabos (daughter of Mari and Michael Gabos of Bloomfield Hills) and Tayla Jankowski (daughter of Krisan and Daniel Jankowski of Royal Oak) on receiving awards for their photography in the annual Southeast Michigan Scholastic Art & Writing competition. Lily won a Silver Key for her photo submission entitled “Hello Spring” and Tayla won two Silver Keys and an Honorable mention for her works entitled “Dark Serenity”, “Our Future?”, and “Old Fortune”. Their artwork will be shown in a virtual gallery in March.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. Students’ entries are blindly adjudicated by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts. All entries are considered for Gold Key, Silver Key, Honorable Mention, American Visions Nominee, and American Voices Nominee Regional Awards. These are presented to students along with celebration ceremonies and exhibitions in each region. Gold Key entries are automatically considered for national awards, including Gold Medal, Silver Medal with Distinction, Silver Medal, and direct scholarship awards.
