Marian High School ski team took home the 2022 Catholic High School League Division (CHSL) 2 girls ski championship title at Mt. Brighton.
Under the direction of head coach, Mark Weymouth, the Mustangs scored 43 points, edging out rivals Mercy (48) and knocking off four-time defending champion Cranbrook Kingswood (71). Marian was led by freshman Emma Borgula, of Oakland, who took the top spot in the giant slalom with a combined 29.31 in her two runs and second in the slalom (41.28) ahead of teammate, sophomore Agatha Valka (42.39), of Royal Oak, who placed third.
This was Marian’s first CHSL title in five seasons, and eighth overall. The Mustangs dominated during a seven-year title run from 2009 to 2016*.
Marian is set to compete next at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Regionals, Tuesday, February 15 at Pine Knob in Clarkston, MI beginning at 7:oo AM.
