The Marian varsity basketball team took home the Catholic High School League (CHSL) championship title in the Bishop Division as they defeated Dearborn Divine Child 44-36 at Wayne State on February 19.

This was the third meeting between the two teams, with Divine Child taking the first two games. It would be the final matchup that would put Marian on top to take their 20th CHSL title for both Marian and head coach Mary Lillie Cicerone in the final CHSL game of her coaching career. Senior point guard, Anna Herberholz of Troy, in her first game back from an injury, led the Mustangs scoring 16 of the team’s first 24 points of the first half. She would go on to score 22 in the title-game victory.

Marian is scheduled to play at Renaissance High School, the newly crowned Public School League champions, in the Operation Friendship game on Friday, February 25 at 6:30 PM.  Looking ahead, Marian has drawn the #2 seed in the Michigan High School Athletic Association District tournament. As such, Marian will draw a BYE in the first round and play the winner of the Bloomfield Hills/North Farmington winner on Wednesday, March 2 at 5 PM at West Bloomfield High School.
