Marian Rice Grand Chorus Takes Top Honors

The Marian Rice Grand Chorus took first place, with an Excellent rating, at the Music in the Parks Competition at Cedar Point on May 7. The Grand Chorus, comprised of Marian Melodies and Marian Rice Concert Choir, competed against Maryvale High School Choir, Adena Concert Choir, and Maryvale High School Chorale. They performed two pieces for adjudicator including Bonse Aba (Traditional Zambian Folk Song, Arr. by Victor C. Johnson) and River in Judea (Music by Jack Feldman, Words by Linda Marcus, Arr. by John Leavitt).
 
Cedar Point’s Festival of Music provides band, orchestra and choral students the opportunity to perform on-site at Cedar Point. All groups will perform on-site allowing your students more time to play in the park and less travel for your group. Adjudicators listen, evaluate and comment on your group’s performance. Each school will receive a participation award with a rating. Festival of Music is open to all elementary, middle and senior high school instrumental and choral groups.
