The Marian Forensics Team showcased their exceptional talents at the first official Detroit Catholic Forensic League tournament of the season on January 20. The event saw remarkable performances from our dedicated team members, earning accolades across multiple categories.

Congratulations are in order for Josephine Allen, Gina Azar, Charlotte DuBay, Margaux Etzel, the duo team of Alana Isho and Isabella Marougi, the duo team of Hannah Kaczmarek and Jennifer Suan, Molly O’Brien, Maggie Scott, and Giselle Sesi. These talented individuals participated in various categories, including Dramatic Performance, Duo Interpretation of Literature, Extemporaneous Speaking, Oratorical Declamation, and Original Oratory.

The Mustangs had a stellar day at the competition, with all nine Marian entries securing top-six ribbons. The team's achievements include four first-place ribbons, three second-place ribbons, one third-place ribbon, and one sixth-place ribbon. This outstanding performance is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and talent of our forensics team.

Forensics allows students to compete in six distinct performance categories, encompassing both interpretive events such as Oral Interpretation of Literature, Dramatic Performance, and Duo Interpretation of Literature, and public speaking events like Oratorical Declamation, Original Oratory, and Extemporaneous Speaking.

The journey for team members and coaches begins at the start of the school year, involving the careful selection, editing, and rehearsing of performance pieces. From January to March, students participate in local high school tournaments, showcasing their skills in their respective categories. Judges evaluate performances in three different rounds, culminating in the recognition of the day's top scorers.

As the season progresses, high-achieving students have the opportunity to qualify for the annual National Catholic Forensics League (NCFL) tournament. This prestigious event takes place during Memorial Day weekend at varying host sites across the U.S.

The Marian community commends our Forensics Team for their exceptional achievements and wishes them continued success as they navigate the remainder of the season.

Way to go, Mustangs!
