Lauren Hornick ’24 Honored with DAR Good Citizen Award

Marian congratulates Lauren Hornick  ’24, who was recognized as the recipient of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Good Citizen Award. 
Marian congratulates Lauren Hornick  ’24, who was recognized as the recipient of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Good Citizen Award. The Piety Hill Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution honored 16 local high school students, including Lauren, at an event held on January 9, 2024, at the Bloomfield Township Public Library.

The DAR Good Citizen Award acknowledges and celebrates individuals who demonstrate outstanding qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. Lauren was selected for this prestigious award by her teachers and peers due to her exemplary display of these qualities.

Speaking about Lauren's achievement, Bess Riek, Counseling Department Chairperson at Marian High School, remarked, "Lauren is incredibly involved in Marian and shows true leadership. She exemplifies what it means to be a strong woman of mind and heart."

Lauren, a senior with a remarkable GPA of 4.28, has been recognized for her academic excellence and leadership across various domains. She has received numerous honors, including the High Honors Achievement Award and DECA District Winner titles. Additionally, Lauren has excelled in athletics, earning accolades such as the All-Catholic Field Hockey and Track and Field awards.

Beyond academics and sports, Lauren has actively engaged in various extracurricular activities and community service initiatives. She has demonstrated her commitment to public service through her involvement with organizations like Gigi's Playhouse and Marian Project Care. Lauren's leadership roles in clubs such as the National Honor Society and Model United Nations reflect her dedication to serving her school and community.

Moreover, Lauren has gained valuable experience through internships and summer programs, including participating in the Georgetown University Summer Program and the Notre Dame Pre-College Program. She has also showcased her leadership skills as a Senior Retreat Leader and President of the National Honor Society.

Marian extends heartfelt congratulations to Lauren, commending her for embodying the spirit of excellence and leadership nurtured within the halls of Marian High School
