New at Marian in 2022-23

Marian High School started the 2022-23 academic year on August 16 with a 3.3% increase in student registration compared to last year.  Marian students come from 73 schools, 46 communities, and seven counties, drawing students from the Lansing area, Traverse City, and from as far away as the Bahamas and Ukraine.

New technology
To prepare for the new academic year, Marian made in-classroom upgrades to its technology to boost learning opportunities for the students, including:
  •  36 new 86” Promethean ActivePanel interactive screens that can connect directly to any computer or mobile device that will be used in classrooms for demonstrations, lectures, and interactive, hands-on learning that allows for multiple students to utilize at a time.
  • The Science Department has 10 new Dell 2-in-1 model computers dedicated to using Vernier probes. The lightweight computers allow for ease in portability to use the probes around the building outside of the lab.
  • More Vernier probes have been added to allow for measuring, analyzing, monitoring, and learning about various domains in the classroom and labs.
  • The Graphic Design Mac Lab received 19 new Apple iMac computers with higher processing speeds and functionality for efficiency and to allow students to get more done during class.
  • Wacom graphic drawing tablets and pens have been added to connect the tablets with the iMacs for ease and precision in digital drawing and photo editing.
  • 34 document overhead cameras allow students to follow along in the classroom or virtually through its video capabilities.

Several new faculty and staff joined Marian. Among them is the newly created Director of School Culture, which will serve to support students’ social and emotional learning through the active engagement of teachers, administrators, students, and parents. The new faculty and staff members are:
