Spanish and German classes embraced festive traditions this Christmas season, fostering a sense of community and cultural appreciation.

Honoring the Epiphany on January 6, Spanish 1 classes delved into the cultural significance of Three Kings Day (Dia de los Reyes). The students learned that a traditional Mexican cake, known as "Rosca de Reyes," is often baked with a hidden item, such as a bean or a small figurine representing baby Jesus. The student who discovered the hidden item in the cake was crowned "Reina" for the day.

Prior to Christmas break, German Honor Society (GHS) held its annual gingerbread house building contest. Gingerbread houses originated in Germany during the 16th century.  The competition was fierce, resulting in an array of beautifully decorated houses. To ensure a fair judgment, German 1 and 2 classes were invited to vote on their favorite gingerbread house. German students also celebrated St. Nicholas Day ahead of Christmas break. In accordance with the age-old tradition, students placed their shoes outside the classroom doors, hoping to find them filled with small treats and surprises upon St. Nicholas's arrival.
